Stuff Magazine’s always-anticipated Hot 100 Issue hit newsstands this week, which OF COURSE you already know because you’ve seen our sizzling new ad on the inside front page. Well, keep flipping through to read Sandy Poirier’s words of wisdom regarding one of his edgy, asymmetrical signature cuts. As someone who has personally been on the receiving end of Sandy’s short-hair rockstar acumen, I can say that Stuff definitely chose the right authority! Read the full blurb with Sandy’s thoughts below, from Stuff’s site:
“If you still think gorgeous hair looks like what you see in a shampoo commercial – long, flowing locks cascading over a model’s shoulder, shimmering in the sun and bouncing like a slinky as she bounds up stairs (“Gosh, I’m going to be looking fabulous for my imaginary meeting!”) – think again. “Pretty” is passé, says Sandy Poirier, owner of Shag (840 Summer Street, Third Floor, South Boston, 617.268.2500). Men and women are going for super-short clipper cuts on the sides, with longer, and frequently asymmetrical, textured razor cuts on top (leave the scissors at home – you want it to look like Freddy Krueger drummed his finger-claws on your head). The key: the cuts are left unblended for maximum edgy appeal. Besides the easy maintenance (add some product, tussle, and you’re good to go), we think it’s a cool unisex cut that looks good on girls (Rihanna rocks it, and Kelly Osbourne usually has some variation), guys (David Beckham’s been spotted with the coif), and anyone rocking androgynous flair with their hair (the punk-rock crew of Semi Precious Weapons). Think of it as business on the sides, party on top – hell, party all over.”
